How Can Timing Make The Difference In Avoiding Tragedy In Addicts’ Lives?

Do you, or someone you know, have an addiction to alcohol or drugs? If the answer is yes, then you need to carefully read this article. Take action as soon as possible. The tragedy can ensue if rehab is delayed for too long. The longer addicts avoid a drug or alcohol addiction rehab program, the more drugs or alcohol they will consume, and thus, the greater the risk for serious tragedy. If you have admitted to your addiction and decided to get help, DO NOT stall. Your health is of the utmost importance, and timing is crucial.

Car Accidents

It is a well-known fact that most car accidents are a direct result of either alcohol or drug use. Putting the treatment center on hold can place you in grave jeopardy and endanger the lives of yourself and others. No matter how well you hold down your liquor, there is absolutely no way you can be sure of preventing an accident.

If you are lucky enough to survive the accident, you stand a great chance of being prosecuted for drunk driving, which can result in hefty fines and imprisonment. A tragedy of this nature affects not only you but your family and other innocent bystanders involved in the incident.

Risk of Overdose

Perhaps the greatest and most probable result of putting off rehab is the risk of an overdose. Experienced addicts often feel as if they are invincible, fully capable of taking a larger dosage than before. In contrast to popular belief, an overdose does not technically translate to an abundant amount.

Many individuals have died from swallowing a single ecstasy pill or snorting a measly line of cocaine. An overdose can also occur when deadly drugs are combined or even used with alcohol.

While an overdose is not guaranteed to take your life, it does have the power to have a lasting effect. Many people who experimented with manmade substances, such as acid and angel dust, will never be the same, with their brains permanently altered from an extreme level of LSD.

Change of Plans

Hesitating to enroll your loved one into a rehab program could result in the addict backing out of recovery. If they continue to use it, they may no longer listen to reason and instead become content with life as it is. If the addicts have stopped using, they stand a greater chance of relapsing if they are not immediately treated for the problem.

When addiction is the issue, the more time that elapses brings everyone around the user closer to tragedy; unfortunate circumstances can be prevented by treating the problem as a priority. Addicts will not make the best decisions for themselves or their families. They are merely an empty shell of their former selves.

Because of a tainted and twisted lifestyle, they tend to have bad luck and inevitable doom if a plan is not put in place soon. Addiction is a sensitive subject yet an even deadlier disease. If you or a loved one is willing to commit to treatment, there is no need to wait… the time is NOW!
